While knee surgery can sound like a daunting thing to have to undergo, it doesn’t have to be that way. At The Family Practice & Orthopedic Care Center, PC, we’re committed to helping you get all the necessary information you need to have a successful operation. Below we’ve listed some key terms to know, allowing you to find out more about what we can do for you.
We perform three major types of knee surgery: arthroscopic, partial knee replacement, and total knee replacement. Our physicians will be able to determine which procedure will result in an optimal outcome given your condition.
In knee arthroscopy, we monitor the progress of surgery by inserting a small camera into your knee joint. After it’s been properly placed, we pump salt water into the aforementioned area to make for an easier surgery.
We give patients a minimally-invasive solution that works to fix arthritis of the knee. This is commonly used in cases of osteoarthritis in which damage to one particular area of the knee is causing the patient acute pain. As a result of the fact that only one part of the knee is being treated, recovery time is significantly shorter than total knee replacement.
When arthritis has advanced significantly, total knee replacement may be required. As such, total knee replacement is by far the most comprehensive of the three procedures that we perform to treat arthritis of the knee.
